Harkun Thornveil
Cleric
Harkun Thornveil
Species
Half-Orc
Appearance
A broad-shouldered half-orc who looks as if the woods have been wearing him down for years and have never quite managed to break him. He dresses in light hermit's layers dyed in moss, lichen, and bark-brown, but over them hangs a dirty, dented plate cuirass that has been scrubbed clean only where hands have touched it most often. The plates are stitched to leather straps and soft cords so they do not rattle in the brush. On his head rests the skull of a horned bull, old and weathered, with the horn tips capped in brass and prayer knots tied through the eye sockets. His flail hangs at his belt beside a bone-handled knife and a pouch of herbs. He moves with the silent caution of a tracker, yet his armored shoulders and the bull skull give him the unsettling look of a shrine come to life, equal parts penitent monk and battlefield brute. The strangest thing about him is how gentle his hands are, as careful as a midwife's, even when the rest of him looks built for splintering doors.
“Low and measured, with a rough woodland cadence and the occasional ritual phrase in Orcish. He speaks as if each word should be worthy of a witness.”

Distinguishing Features
A bull skull helm with one horn cracked and wrapped in copper wire
A vertical scar across the left cheek that looks like a claw mark made by a hot blade
Prayer beads carved from acorns, knuckle bones, and river stone
One ear partly torn away, leaving a ragged notch
The faint smell of pine smoke and crushed yarrow that follows him even after rain
Voice
“Gravelly but restrained, like wind moving through dry reeds”
Clothing
Layered hermit wraps in forest greens and brown linen, patched with deer hide and nettle thread, worn under battered plate pieces that look scavenged, repaired, and blessed more than once
Body Language
Still and watchful when at rest, with a deliberate economy of motion; in conflict he lowers his head like a charging bull, but in conversation he keeps his hands open and visible, as if always trying to prove he came in peace.
