Tallow Brindlefen
Wizard
Tallow Brindlefen
Species
Forest Gnome
Appearance
Tallow Brindlefen is a small forest gnome with a whittled, weather-tough face and hands stained permanently gray-blue with ink and river silt. He moves with quick, darting purpose, then freezes in uncanny stillness when listening, as if the world has become a map only he can read. His left eye is bright amber, his right eye is cloudy white from an old brush with alchemical smoke, yet he wears the damaged eye with almost ceremonial pride. He dresses in layered travel coats lined with hidden pockets, a brass-buttoned vest, and soft boots polished to a mirror shine, an unexpectedly elegant contrast to the mud and rope knots always clinging to his hem. A narrow brass measuring frame hangs from his belt beside rolled charts sealed in waxed cloth tubes.
“He speaks in careful, tidy phrases, often pausing to choose the exact word, then correcting himself if a detail feels off. When excited, he talks faster and starts using obscure river terms as if everyone should know them.”

Permanent ink stains on his hands and under his nails
A brass measuring frame worn like a talisman at his belt
A crescent-shaped scar behind his left ear
An elegant waistcoat worn beneath practical travel gear

Body Language
He leans forward when speaking, as if trying to shorten the distance to the truth, and points with two fingers instead of one, like a surveyor marking bearings. When wary, he keeps his elbows close and his shoulders angled away from doorways. In conversation he tilts his head just slightly, listening for lies the way a fisherman listens for a snag.
