Appearance
Theodore Senethril looks like a man carved from cooled furnace brass and old regret. His skin is sun-browned and lightly freckled with dust-gold specks that cling to the seams of his hands and collar. His black hair is worn back in a severe ribboned queue, but a single pale streak near the temple refuses to be tamed, as if moonlight got lost in it. He stands a little too straight for comfort, with a narrow, watchful face, a mouth made for restraint, and eyes the color of storm-polished amber. His movements are careful and economical, yet when he is angered he becomes unexpectedly graceful, almost dancer-like, as though fury has taught him elegance. He dresses in a crisp mayoral coat of dark indigo linen lined with sand-yellow silk, with brass buttons etched in the shape of dunes, but he wears a cracked leather glove on his left hand that suggests either injury or shame.
“Carefully measured, formal, and dryly witty, with the clipped precision of a man used to being overheard. He speaks like every sentence might become evidence.”

Distinguishing Features
A brass signet ring worn on a cord around his neck instead of on his finger.
A crescent scar crossing his left palm, hidden by his glove.
His right cuff is always stained with pale mineral dust from the lower cisterns.
A tiny ceremonial key sewn into the inside hem of his coat.
His eyes seem to catch lantern light in a way that makes them look molten.
Unexpectedly, he keeps a child's carved bone whistle tucked with his seal papers.
Voice
“Low, polished, and exhausted at the edges, like velvet worn thin over steel.”
Clothing
A tailored mayoral coat, sand-colored waistcoat, embroidered sash of office, polished boots, brass cuff links, and a dust scarf that can be pulled over his mouth in a sandstorm.
Body Language
Measured and upright, with a habit of turning one shoulder slightly away from whoever he distrusts. His gaze rarely stops moving, and when he is pleased he taps two fingers against his thumb as if counting invisible coin.
