Life here is governed by the 'Mana-O', a sacred flow of spiritual energy that permeates everything from the simplest fishing hook to the Great Star-Navigators' charts. In the markets, colorful sarongs flutter in the trade winds, while deep-sea hunters return with catches of bioluminescent fish and tales of spirits rising from the deep blue abyss. Ko'o is a masterwork of oceanic engineering. The city is elevated on thousands of reinforced whalebone stilts, connected by a network of braided rope bridges and spiral walkways. Lush floating gardens of taro and breadfruit drift between the districts, while the clear water below reveals the massive, white skeletal structure of the reef. Buildings are constructed from driftwood and ribs of great whales, decorated with intricate spiral carvings that mirror the swirling currents.
