The Lionheart Lodge
The Lionheart Lodge is a grand guild hall for monster hunters, explorers, fairy-tale heroes, and legendary adventurers. It stands on a low wooded rise overlooking a crossroads, with a fortified perimeter, kennels, training yards, a stable, a library, a trophy vault, private quarters, and a massive common hall. The lodge is large enough to house visiting adventurers and their companions, while its grounds support magical beasts, mounts, and several active expeditions. At party level 12, the hall functions as a powerful base of operations, a source of high-level contracts, and a gathering place for allies capable of facing dragons, fiends, curses, and threats to entire regions.

The Lionheart Lodge
Warm, busy, and heroic without being solemn. The halls smell of cedar smoke, leather, animal musk, fresh bread, and gun oil. Members argue over maps, repair weapons, trade exaggerated stories, and interrupt one another with urgent news. A visitor may hear a bear growling beneath a floorboard, a portal crackling open in the kitchen, or a song from the common room. Despite the disorder, the lodge feels safe. Everyone understands that the guild protects its own.

Steady, protective, patient with animals, and demanding of heroes. Michael dislikes boastfulness, cruelty, and careless contracts. He remembers the name of every guild member and every beast under his protection. When angry, he becomes very quiet, which is more intimidating than shouting.
History
Membership and Initiation
Membership is granted by invitation, proven deed, or a unanimous vote from three senior members. Candidates must demonstrate competence, courage, and a willingness to protect innocent people. The guild accepts hunters, scouts, scholars, monster slayers, explorers, and unusual allies who can contribute to a dangerous expedition. New members spend one month under observation and must complete a supervised contract before receiving the silver lion badge. Guests may stay for three nights if sponsored by a member.
Ongoing Contracts
The guild maintains contracts from villages, nobles, temples, merchants, and frontier settlements. Current work includes tracking a frost drake that has taken livestock near the North Road, escorting a relic caravan through goblin territory, investigating disappearances around an abandoned fairy-tale castle, and finding a missing Pathfinder Society expedition. Smaller contracts are posted on the oak board in the common hall. Senior members review every contract for hidden curses, political traps, and false accusations.
Guild Menagerie
The lodge contains a fortified menagerie with covered stalls, flight mews, burrows, climbing frames, and a shallow saltwater pool. Goldie Lockes's three bears have their own fenced garden, while Dorothy's beagle Toto and Phoenix Ashfeather are free to roam most of the grounds. The animals are treated as partners rather than property. Visitors must ask permission before approaching them, and anyone who harms a guild animal is expelled and hunted by the entire lodge.
Trophy Vault and Records
The lower vault holds maps, monster remains, recovered weapons, cursed objects, and field journals. Belle French maintains the catalog, while Christopher Waltz oversees the magical indexing system. Excalibur rests in a warded stone cradle when Arthur is not carrying it. Portal hats made by Jefferson are stored in locked glass cases, each marked with its known destination and the risks of travel. Access requires permission from Michael Hughes, Belle, or two senior guild members.
Denizens
Steady, protective, patient with animals, and demanding of heroes. Michael dislikes boastfulness, cruelty, and careless contracts. He remembers the name of every guild member and every beast under his protection. When angry, he becomes very quiet, which is more intimidating than shouting.
A broad-shouldered half-giant with a weathered face, a silver-streaked beard, and the calm authority of a veteran commander. Michael speaks gently to animals and firmly to people. He expects members to protect civilians, honor contracts, and never mistake fame for virtue. In combat, he fights with a massive hunting spear and commands his trained beasts with precise gestures.
A changeling investigator with pale silver eyes, a collection of disguises, and a crossbow etched with warding script. Gretel specializes in identifying witches, breaking enchantments, and recognizing when an apparently innocent victim is actually the source of a curse. She is suspicious of easy answers but fiercely protective of children and the helpless.
A sharp-eyed falconer who travels with Toto, a fearless beagle, and Phoenix Ashfeather, a brilliant fire-touched bird capable of rekindling its own life from embers. Dorothy is practical, optimistic, and far more dangerous than her cheerful manners suggest. She handles scouting, aerial reconnaissance, and witch hunts across open country.
A gnome druid with golden curls, muddy boots, and an instinct for finding trouble in the wilderness. Goldie travels with three bear companions who serve as guardians, pack animals, and occasional rescuers. She is curious about every strange plant and believes most monsters should be understood before they are slain.
A silent, heavily armored dragon slayer who carries Excalibur and treats the weapon as a sacred responsibility rather than a trophy. Arthur is formal, disciplined, and unexpectedly patient with younger adventurers. He trains members in shield work, mounted combat, and fighting creatures larger than themselves.
A young wizard with unruly hair, ink-stained fingers, and an alarming talent for solving magical problems by making them larger. Christopher studies teleportation, protective magic, and ancient fairy-tale curses. He is eager to prove himself and often needs an older member to remind him that experimentation should not occur near the pantry.
A lean frontier gunslinger with a battered hat, a dry sense of humor, and an encyclopedic knowledge of trails, rivers, and improvised explosives. Thomas maps new roads and settlements for the guild. He is especially skilled at protecting caravans and turning poor terrain into a tactical advantage.
A duskwalker monster hunter who speaks quietly and never wastes movement. Van Helsing studies undead, aberrations, and creatures that return after death. He maintains the lodge's silver stores, alchemical supplies, and records on recurring threats. His grim manner hides a deep respect for the dead and the living who mourn them.
A quick-handed Anubian street rat rogue with a charming smile and a talent for disappearing in crowded markets. Aladdin specializes in infiltration, urban intelligence, and acquiring objects that are supposedly impossible to steal. He often accepts contracts before checking whether the target is guarded by a dragon.
A small Vanara rogue and Aladdin's partner. Abu is observant, agile, and incapable of leaving an unattended pouch unopened. He communicates through gestures, chattering sounds, and an expressive collection of stolen hats. Abu is an excellent climber and an expert at finding hidden passages.
A daring sky raider captain who commands a swift enchanted vessel kept in the lodge's upper hangar. Wendy is compassionate toward the young, ruthless toward slavers, and always ready to challenge an impossible horizon. She handles aerial transport, pirate negotiations, and rescues from isolated locations.
The first mate of Wendy's crew and leader of a loose band of young runaways, scouts, and dockside informants. Rufio is brash, loyal, and constantly planning a raid against someone who probably deserves it. He runs the lodge's courier network and knows every smuggler's trail for hundreds of miles.
A flamboyant swashbuckler with a feathered hat, a curved blade, and a habit of treating every doorway like a stage entrance. Francis is obsessed with catnip, white russians, and dramatic declarations of honor. Beneath the vanity is a genuinely skilled duelist who is often the first to distract an enemy so others can escape.
A noble ratfolk warrior from Narnia who carries a rapier sized for a human shortsword and speaks with impeccable courtesy. Reepicheap is courageous to the point of recklessness and has challenged monsters much larger than himself. He teaches the guild that bravery is measured by action, not stature.
A wise Narnian queen whose calm presence settles arguments before they become fights. Lucy is skilled in diplomacy, healing, and recognizing supernatural deception. She often advises Michael on alliances and serves as a trusted mediator when legendary personalities clash.
A thoughtful scribe who records every expedition in clear, elegant prose. Belle maintains the guild's library, translates old journals, and questions assumptions that more martial members overlook. She is brave without being reckless and has a talent for discovering the human story behind a monster's curse.
A mermaid sea witch hunter who keeps a trident beside the common room fountain. Ariel is fascinated by surface-world tools and collects stories from every coastal settlement. She tracks marine curses, sahuagin raiders, sea hags, and wreck-divers who have returned from the deep changed by what they found.
An energetic adventurer who defeated a Jabberwocky and still considers that victory only the beginning of her career. Alice is imaginative, stubborn, and adept at treating impossible environments as solvable puzzles. She leads her Wonder Gang on missions involving dream realms, warped geography, and hostile fairy-tale logic.
A catfolk spy who can vanish from sight, thought, and sometimes memory for a few unsettling seconds. Cheshire is playful, evasive, and almost impossible to interrogate. He specializes in surveillance, infiltration, and locating enemies who believe themselves safely hidden.
A flamboyant hatter and portal engineer whose creations range from elegant travel hats to dangerous prototypes that open into places no one intended to visit. Jefferson is brilliant, distractible, and convinced that a proper hat improves every negotiation. He maintains the portal chamber with Christopher Waltz.

Classified Entry
The lodge was founded on the site of an ancient pact between mortal hunters and a powerful guardian spirit known as the First Lion. The spirit protects the hall, its animals, and those who shelter there, but the pact is weakening because one of the original covenant stones was removed and hidden somewhere in the surrounding forest. Michael knows the truth but has not told the guild, fearing that some members would rush into the woods and awaken the guardian before they understood its demands. If the stone is not returned, the lodge will gradually lose its protections, and the First Lion may begin judging guild members as trespassers rather than allies.
