The Lionheart Lodge
The Lionheart Lodge is a grand refuge, headquarters, and training ground for hunters of monsters and protectors of the helpless. It stands on a wooded rise overlooking a broad valley, with clear sight lines toward the roads, river, and distant mountains. The main hall is large enough to host a feast for several hundred guests, while the surrounding wings contain private rooms, shared bunkhouses, map rooms, armories, workshops, stables, kennels, aviaries, a conservatory, a small indoor pool, and a fortified archive. A circular courtyard serves as a training arena, and a covered bridge connects the lodge to a watchtower used by Wendy Darling and the Sky Watch. The hall welcomes fairy tale heroes, legendary hunters, wandering adventurers, and those who have nowhere else to turn.

The Lionheart Lodge
Warm, lively, and constantly alert. The smell of stew, leather, pipe smoke, sea salt, alchemical oils, and fresh-cut wood fills the halls. Heroes trade exaggerated stories near the great hearth while scribes copy reports, familiars nap beneath tables, and weapons are repaired in the lower workshops. Beneath the laughter lies a sense of readiness. Every member knows that the next knock at the door may announce a missing child, a cursed king, or an army of monsters.

Warm-hearted, disciplined, protective, and quietly intimidating. Michael welcomes the lost and gives second chances to those who prove they can be trusted. He dislikes cruelty, reckless boasting, and hunters who value trophies over lives. Though he appears imposing, he is an excellent listener and remembers the names of every child and village the guild has rescued.
History
Membership Requirements
Membership is earned through proven courage, reliable conduct, and a willingness to protect travelers, villages, and fellow hunters. Applicants must complete a trial suited to their talents, such as tracking a dangerous creature, surviving a wilderness expedition, solving a supernatural case, or defending the lodge during a crisis. The guild accepts heroes, legends, reformed rogues, monster hunters, scouts, scholars, and unusual allies who agree to its three rules: protect the innocent, honor the hunt, and never abandon a guild member without good cause.
Ongoing Contracts
The guild maintains an active board of contracts in the Great Hall. Current work includes clearing a hag coven from the Briarfen, escorting children through werewolf territory, recovering a stolen dragon egg, investigating disappearances near an old glass mine, hunting a vampire noble in the eastern counties, and guarding ships against a sea witch. Contracts are ranked from routine patrols to level 12 threats involving ancient dragons, powerful undead, fiends, or legendary monsters. Payment usually includes coin, salvaged relics, political favors, or safe passage through dangerous lands.
Guild Companies
The lodge is divided into specialized teams. The Red Trackers handle lycanthropes, fey, and forest monsters. The Sky Watch manages aerial threats and long-distance scouting. The Deepwater Circle investigates sea creatures, drowned undead, and coastal curses. The Relic Company specializes in dragons, cursed weapons, and ancient ruins. The Merry Company provides reconnaissance, infiltration, and community defense. Teams may combine for major expeditions, with Michael Hughes serving as field commander when the danger exceeds the ability of a single party.
Member Services and Privileges
Members receive bunk space, meals, basic medical care, access to the armory, training grounds, libraries, stables, kennels, and secure magical storage. The lodge also provides a network of safe houses maintained by former guild members, sympathetic rulers, forest spirits, and grateful villages. A guild badge grants limited authority to investigate supernatural crimes in several neighboring territories, though local laws still apply. Members who abuse that authority are stripped of their badge and brought before the lodge council.
Denizens
Warm-hearted, disciplined, protective, and quietly intimidating. Michael welcomes the lost and gives second chances to those who prove they can be trusted. He dislikes cruelty, reckless boasting, and hunters who value trophies over lives. Though he appears imposing, he is an excellent listener and remembers the names of every child and village the guild has rescued.
A towering half-giant beastmaster with a lion's courage and a soldier's discipline. Michael is patient with frightened villagers, blunt with arrogant nobles, and fiercely protective of every member under his roof. He prefers a massive hunting spear and fights beside trained beasts rather than commanding from safety.
A changeling investigator who specializes in hags, curses, false identities, and witches hiding behind respectable faces. Gretel is quiet, methodical, and difficult to deceive. She keeps a black ledger of every supernatural bargain she has uncovered.
A werewolf who has learned to control her curse and uses her heightened senses to track predators and missing people. Ruby is friendly around the hearth but terrifying in a fight, especially beneath the full moon. She serves as one of the lodge's most trusted trackers.
A cheerful gnome druid who treats her three trained bears as family. Goldie studies changes in the natural order and is quick to notice when a forest has been poisoned by fey magic, undead influence, or a monstrous predator. Her bears are named Hearth, Bramble, and Napper.
A practical falconer and witch hunter who scouts from the air and favors precise shots over dramatic displays. Dorothy is calm under pressure and has a talent for finding the safest route through impossible terrain. Toto often detects danger before anyone else, while Ashfeather can burn through magical darkness.
A mermaid trained to hunt sea hags, drowned undead, sahuagin warlocks, and other threats from beneath the waves. Ariel is curious, diplomatic, and fascinated by surface customs, though she becomes severe when sailors exploit the sea or harm innocent coastal communities.
A quick-fingered Anubian rogue who gathers rumors in markets, gambling houses, and noble courts. Aladdin is charming, opportunistic, and braver than he admits. His vanara partner Abu is an expert pickpocket, climber, and distraction artist who has stolen keys from liches and signet rings from dragons.
A noble warrior known for killing giants and overthrowing corrupt queens. Jaq is direct, courageous, and deeply suspicious of anyone who claims divine right without accepting responsibility. She trains younger members in shield work and fighting creatures much larger than themselves.
A fast-talking gunslinger from the western frontier who enjoys impossible shots, tall tales, and strong coffee. Thomas has a practical understanding of bandits, frontier law, and dangerous roads. He often serves as escort commander for merchant caravans and isolated settlements.
A duskwalker monster hunter who specializes in undead, restless spirits, and creatures that evade ordinary death. Van Helsing is stern but not humorless, carrying a collection of consecrated tools and carefully labeled relics. He believes every haunting has a cause, even when the cause is monstrous.
A daring sky raider captain who commands the lodge's aerial patrols and long-range expeditions. Wendy is bold, compassionate, and always planning three escapes at once. She maintains a fast sailing vessel fitted with magical rigging and keeps a detailed chart of hidden islands and floating ruins.
The disciplined first mate of Wendy's crew and leader of a loose band of young scouts known as the Lost Boys. Rufio is competitive, protective, and an exceptional climber. He insists that every new recruit learn how to escape a collapsing ruin before they are allowed on an expedition.
The guild's chief scribe and keeper of case files, maps, contracts, and witness statements. Belle is patient, observant, and capable of remembering nearly everything she reads. She has built strong relationships with scholars and librarians across the region and can often identify a monster from a single obscure detail.
A flamboyant catfolk swashbuckler whose swordplay is matched only by his confidence. Puss in Boots is obsessed with catnip, white russians, dramatic entrances, and heroic speeches. Beneath the theatrics he is a skilled duelist and a loyal protector of the weak.
A noble Narnian ratfolk who treats every mission as a sacred duty. Reepicheap is courteous, fearless, and easily offended by cowardice or bad manners. His small stature allows him to move through places larger hunters cannot reach, and he frequently challenges enemies many times his size.
A Narnian queen who combines compassionate leadership with formidable battlefield instincts. Lucy is often consulted when the guild must negotiate with rulers, spirits, or frightened communities. She keeps the lodge focused on defending people rather than merely collecting trophies.
A clever outlaw leader who coordinates the guild's community defense network. Robyn is an expert archer and strategist, especially skilled at turning forests, villages, and narrow roads into defensive advantages. He maintains contact with his Merry Men, who operate as volunteer scouts throughout the countryside.
An adventurer from Wonderland who slew a Jabberwocky and returned with a talent for surviving impossible logic. Alice is bold, adaptable, and prone to treating bizarre magical events as practical problems. Her Wonder Gang helps the guild investigate warped realms, dreamscapes, and reality-bending monsters.
A brilliant and unpredictable hatmaker whose enchanted hats create temporary portals. Jefferson is generous with his inventions but refuses to explain how they work. His portal hats are useful for rescue missions, though they sometimes open into places that are technically nearby but socially inconvenient.
A vanishing catfolk spy who can disappear from sight, sound, and sometimes memory. Cheshire rarely sits in the same chair twice and has a habit of appearing in locked rooms. He gathers intelligence on enemy movements and leaves cryptic smiles carved into the edges of important maps.
A Scottish archer with a fierce independent streak and a powerful sense of family duty. Merida excels at long-range ambushes, mounted archery, and wilderness survival. She is usually the first to volunteer for missions involving remote clans, cursed rulers, or dangerous forests.
A disciplined Chinese warrior trained in battlefield tactics, close combat, and adapting to unfamiliar enemies. Mulan serves as a weapons instructor and often organizes the lodge's defenses during sieges. She values preparation, teamwork, and the courage to change plans when circumstances demand it.

Classified Entry
The lodge was built over the remains of an ancient hunter sanctuary that once protected the valley from a powerful being called the First Beast. The sanctuary's wards are still active, but they are weakening because the First Beast was never truly killed. It was divided into several living fragments, each hidden inside an artifact, a bloodline, or a monster. The guild's legendary members were drawn together by more than coincidence. Each carries a connection to one fragment, and the lodge itself has been quietly gathering them so they can be protected. If the fragments are reunited, the First Beast will awaken beneath the lodge. If they are destroyed, the valley's protective magic may collapse and expose every nearby settlement to the creatures beyond the old boundary.
