The Blackstone Warden
The mountain remembers every oath, every sacrifice, and every hand that reaches for its buried crown.
The cave complex descends beneath a ruined hill, where ancient halls have been carved directly into black limestone. Its upper chambers are abandoned barracks and shrines, but the lower caverns hold sealed vaults, sacrificial relics, and a living darkness that has begun to wake.
Cold mineral air rolls through the caverns, carrying wet stone, old smoke, and the copper stink of blood. Pale blue fungi pulse along the walls while distant chains clatter, water drips into unseen depths, and something enormous occasionally scrapes against the rock.
☠ Threat
The dungeon's deepest chamber contains Vhalzareth, a star-born aberration fused with the mountain's heart. It feeds on fear, dreams, and spilled blood, sending psychic whispers through the crystal veins. If the adventurers disturb the relics without renewing the seal in room 20, Vhalzareth emerges as a colossal, regenerating horror that can reshape passages and summon creatures from the stone.
History
The caverns were carved nearly four centuries ago by the Veyr Wardens, a militant order that found a fallen object pulsing beneath the mountain. They built barracks, prisons, libraries, and shrines around the impact hollow, then sealed the creature below with seven relics. The order eventually fractured, its desperate final master hiding the relics among the vaults.
