Appearance
Marwen Thatch is a weathered, quick-moving human who looks carved from old oak and candle smoke. His hands are large and scarred, but his fingertips are surprisingly delicate, as if trained for harp strings rather than ale taps. He wears his hair in a careful knot that never quite stays neat, and his apron is embroidered with tiny silver cups that catch lamplight like stars. A soft smell of rosemary, wet timber, and spilled cider follows him everywhere. The oddest thing about him is that he smiles with genuine warmth while his eyes stay alert and measuring, as if he is always listening for a second conversation hidden under the first.
“Soft, measured, and musical, with a habit of turning sharp truths into polite jokes. He calls patrons by endearments only after he has decided they are safe.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin white burn scar curling along his left forearm like spilled candle wax
A cracked silver chalice charm that he never removes
Ink-stained fingertips despite running a tavern
A faint tremor in his right hand that vanishes when he sings
One ear slightly bent from an old bar fight
Voice
“Low, velvet-soft baritone with a faint rasp from years of late nights and smoke, slipping into a gentle sing-song when he is trying to persuade someone.”
Clothing
A dark green waistcoat over a cream shirt, rolled sleeves, sturdy boots, and a leather apron stained by ale, wax, and ink. He keeps a silver pin shaped like a chalice at his collar and a thin scarf tucked into his belt for quick use as a bandage or blindfold.
Body Language
He stands slightly angled toward exits, but his shoulders relax the moment someone speaks kindly. When angry, he grows unnervingly still rather than loud. He punctuates stories with a raised eyebrow, a finger on the rim of a cup, or a tiny tap of his knuckle on wood.
