Appearance
Hesten Marr is a weathered human man with the look of someone who has spent half his life standing in doorways and the other half walking streets after midnight. His scar cuts across the right side of his upper lip, tugging one corner of his mouth into a permanent almost-smile that makes his expressions hard to read. His boots are immaculate even when his cloak is dusted with ash or rain, and he often polishes them with a square of oilcloth while listening to complaints. He moves with a controlled, deliberate tread, but when he is worried his fingers tap a quiet rhythm against his belt buckle. He wears the strange contradiction of a man whose uniform is plain and practical, yet whose cuffs are carefully mended with blue thread by someone who clearly cares for him.
“Low, steady, and precise, with the clipped cadence of official reports softened by street-level kindness..”

Distinguishing Features
A pale scar slices across his upper lip and catches when he speaks.
His boots are unnaturally polished, even after a hard shift.
He carries a whistle etched with tiny notches for each riot he helped contain.
There is a faint lavender scent from the boot polish that clings to his uniform.
Voice
“A gravel-quiet baritone with a tired warmth underneath, like a man used to speaking over rain and shouting crowds.”
Clothing
A dark blue watch coat with brass buttons, patched elbows, a frayed red sash of office, sturdy black gloves, and polished riding boots. Under the coat he wears a chain shirt hidden beneath a faded wool vest when he expects trouble.
Body Language
He stands square-shouldered and still, hands often behind his back, but leans forward slightly when someone is lying. In tense moments he touches the scar on his lip with his thumb, then folds his hands again as if gathering himself.
