Peregrin Lintleaf is a courtly gnome swaddled in severe white finery so excessive it borders on theatrical mourning. His silks shimmer like fresh snow under moonlight, each layer edged with pearls, diamond studs, and thin chains of gold that chime softly when he moves. A vast ivory top hat, tall as a child, is pinned with a plume of silver peacock feathers and a single flawless opal that flashes cold rainbows when he turns. He has the tidy softness of a well-fed man, but his posture is razor straight, and he glides rather than walks, as if every floor beneath him has been polished for his private use. His gloves are immaculate, yet the cuffs are stained faintly gold from years of rubbing coin between his fingers, and his white velvet cloak is lined with a hidden riot of crimson silk, a secret flourish only seen when the wind catches it.
