Appearance
Joren is a narrow-shouldered young man with the wiry strength of someone who has hauled trunks, counted sacks, and slept beneath wagons rather than trained for battle. Rain slicks his face and gathers in the dark crescents beneath his eyes. His hands are ink-stained to the knuckles, but the fingertips are split and callused from rope work. He moves in abrupt, economical jerks, like a frightened bird trying to look predatory. His expression is feverishly focused, yet his mouth keeps forming silent counting words. The unexpected contradiction is his immaculate left cuff, carefully pressed and fastened with a tiny silver button, even while the rest of him is soaked, muddy, and spattered with blood.
“His voice is quick, low, and breathlessly precise. He begins sentences with certainty, then weakens them with corrections: 'She died on the third night, no, the fourth, unless the bell took the fourth from me.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale crescent scar under his right eye from a caravan hook.
Ink-black staining around the nails that never quite washes away.
A tiny silver cuff button on his left sleeve, polished obsessively.
His dagger has a dull gray metal fragment set into the pommel, which trembles before anyone nearby hears a sound.
He keeps glancing at empty spaces as if expecting someone to step out of them.
Voice
“A young man's voice strained thin by sleeplessness, with a careful clerk's cadence that keeps breaking into raw, breathless accusation.”
Clothing
A rain-dark brown clerk's coat with brass buttons, a faded rust-red neck scarf, narrow wool trousers tucked into cracked riding boots, a waterproof ledger satchel, and one conspicuously clean silver cuff button on his left sleeve
Body Language
He pins his elbows close to his ribs and keeps the dagger near his chest rather than extending it confidently. His head tilts toward every distant bell, cup, chain, or dripping gutter. When someone mentions Amina, his shoulders rise as though bracing for a blow. When he lies, he smooths his immaculate left cuff.
