Rector Elara Mortensen
Wizard, School of Necromancy
Rector Elara Mortensen
Species
Human
Appearance
Elara looks like a woman preserved between exhaustion and ceremony. Her movements are measured, almost liturgical, but her hands are always busy, tightening a cuff, tracing a ward, or counting invisible heartbeats against her palm. She leaves the impression of a severe scholar until she smiles, which is unexpectedly warm and motherly. The contradiction unsettles people more than her necromancy. She smells faintly of rain-soaked stone, lamp oil, and crushed rosemary. When she casts, fine motes of pale ash drift upward from her shadow instead of falling.
“Her voice is low, precise, and resonant, with the controlled cadence of a lecturer addressing a crowded hall. When speaking to the dead, she becomes almost conversational.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin scar circles her throat like a dark necklace, left by a failed funerary seal.
Her left hand is permanently cold and leaves a faint frost print on polished surfaces.
A tiny brass bell sewn into her mantle rings whenever an undead creature nearby is being controlled against its will.
Her shadow sometimes contains a second profile, a boy with a crooked fringe and one missing front tooth.
She wears a ring made from the melted clapper of the bell that marked the 1280 AC breach.
Voice
“Low, precise, resonant, and quietly compassionate, with a childlike echo appearing when Oren speaks through her.”
Clothing
A high-collared rector's robe of midnight-blue wool, stitched with silver mathematical sigils and lined in faded crimson. A narrow sash displays the Ashen Collegium seal. She wears black leather boots, fingerless gloves marked with chalk, and a bone-white mantle clasped beneath her throat by a tiny brass bell.
Body Language
Elara stands with her shoulders square and her chin slightly lowered, as though listening to a distant lecturer. She touches the silver ring on her left hand whenever someone mentions family. In danger, her posture becomes startlingly still, while the hem of her robe continues to stir in air that no one else can feel.
