Nithaan Vael
Bard
Nithaan Vael
Species
Eladrin Elf
Appearance
Nithaan is a lithe elven man whose beauty looks assembled from moonlight, scar tissue, and stage glamour. His skin is a deep silver-gray with a fine pearlescent sheen that catches torchlight like fish scales, while one shoulder bears a pale burn mark shaped like a lyre, a scar from the night he saved an entire court by burning his own songbook. His hair is long, ink-black, and usually worn in a loose tail threaded with tiny brass bells that never quite ring together at the same time. His eyes are mismatched, one sea-glass green and one amber-gold, and the gold eye is blind, though he moves as if he sees through sound, vibration, and instinct. He is unusually tall for an elf, with a dancer's build gone narrow from long travel, and he carries himself with a graceful sway that becomes unsettlingly still whenever he is listening. His clothing is a contradictory mix of a velvet travel coat lined in tattered silk, patched gloves, practical riding boots, and a formal collar of courtly lace that he refuses to remove. The overall impression is of a refugee aristocrat, an itinerant performer, and a predator in evening attire all at once.
“Measured and lyrical, with precise diction, sudden wit, and a habit of making even threats sound like compliments.”

Distinguishing Features
Mismatched eyes, one blind amber eye and one lucid green eye
A lyre-shaped burn scar on his left shoulder
Brass bells woven into his black hair
A silver throat tattoo that glows faintly when he casts
A voice that seems to leave a second echo a heartbeat later
Voice
“Velvet-rough baritone with a silver-edged resonance and a faint echo on the last word of every sentence”
Clothing
A plum velvet coat over dark leather traveling clothes, a silver-threaded sash with hidden pockets, soft riding boots, fingerless gloves, and a high lace collar that looks ceremonial but conceals a small stab wound scar
Body Language
His hands are always in motion, conducting invisible harmonies, smoothing sleeves, or pinching a silent rhythm against his fingertips. When he is sincere, he leans in and lowers his shoulders, making himself smaller and less threatening. When he is dangerous, he becomes unnaturally still, with only the bells in his hair shifting.
