Miren is a compact rock gnome with warm, sun-browned skin and hands permanently dusted with soot and silver filings. Her copper-red hair is braided into three practical ropes, but one braid is tied with a childlike ribbon of pale blue silk that looks oddly delicate against her oil-stained work coat. She moves with quick, precise little steps, like a person forever avoiding invisible puddles, and even at rest she seems to be listening to the inside of machines. Her left sleeve is neatly tailored, while the right is patched with mismatched velvet and leather, giving her the look of a refined inventor who got into a brawl with a merchant caravan and won. Tiny brass lenses hang from her collar and click softly when she turns her head, and her smile is bright, tired, and always a little apologetic.
