Appearance
Soryn is built like a narrow cistern ladder, all angles and tendon, with skin that looks perpetually damp even when dry. Their clothes are layered in dark reedcloth and tarred canvas, patched so often the repairs have become a mosaic of different ages. A shallow lamp-glow seems to cling to the silver threads in their sleeves, making them appear half-lit from within. Their left ear is split by an old pressure injury, and their smile is unexpectedly bright, almost courtly, which clashes with the grime under their nails and the habit of speaking to drains as if they are noble witnesses. They move with a careful rolling stride, like someone always feeling for a hidden step.
“Low, precise, and a little husky from years of damp air, with a habit of pausing before important words as though they need to be measured first..”

Distinguishing Features
A crescent scar across the throat from a pressure-snap valve handle.
Silver-thread stitching in the cuffs that catches lantern light like wet fish scales.
A chipped brass whistle always resting against the collarbone.
One boot heel is hollowed to hide a tiny emergency key.
Voice
“Careful and slightly gravelly, with the steadiness of a person used to speaking over running water and the occasional crack of old stone.”
Clothing
Tarred reedcloth tunic, chain-reinforced apron, knee-high work boots, fingerless gloves, and a belt of brass keys, chalk sticks, and valve tags.
Body Language
Guarded and economical, with small precise gestures. When nervous, they rub thumb to forefinger as if feeling invisible grit. When confident, they stand very still, which makes them seem more dangerous than they are.
