Species
Gnome
Appearance
Harvey Copperbottom is a compact gnome with weathered hands, a tidy moustache cut into two brass-colored points, and a coat that looks perpetually half repaired. His skin has the warm, smoke-kissed tone of someone who has spent a lifetime near furnaces, and it is freckled with tiny pale scars from sparks and solder burns. He moves with a cautious, sidewise precision, as if every room were a workshop full of delicate balances. His left eye is bright and sharp, while his right eye is covered by a glass lens fitted into a thin copper frame, though he often forgets to lower the tiny shade built into it. The strange contradiction is that he dresses like a grim industrial foreman, all brass buttons and soot-dark leather, yet he wears a bright yellow ribbon tied around one wrist like a child’s good-luck charm. Even at rest, faint ticking seems to follow him from hidden pockets and concealed springs.
“Measured, precise, and softly sarcastic, with sudden bursts of wonder when he discusses mechanisms, salvage, or impossible solutions..”

Distinguishing Features
A copper eye lens with a hinged shutter etched in tiny sigils.
Solder scars across both thumbs and forefingers.
A faint tick-tick sound that grows louder near him, caused by hidden pocket clocks and spring tools.
A yellow ribbon tied to his wrist, faded from years of use.
Voice
“A dry, papery baritone with a workshop rasp, made unexpectedly warm when he laughs.”
Clothing
A soot-black long coat lined with copper thread, patched wool trousers, a tool-belt made from repurposed harness leather, heavy boots with magnetized soles, and a waistcoat full of hidden pockets, lenses, chalk, wire, and screws.
Body Language
He stands with one shoulder slightly forward, as though bracing for a blast or shielding a fragile mechanism. When excited, his fingers flutter in precise little circles over invisible blueprints. When angry, he grows very still, then begins wiping nonexistent grime from his sleeves.
