Species

Elf

Appearance

Zahir al-Kesh is a lean desert elf with the taut grace of a drawn bowstring and the weathered patience of someone who has spent too many dawns watching the horizon. His skin has the warm, sand-polished tone of sun-baked copper, and his long black hair is kept in a practical braid threaded with tiny silver bells that never quite stay silent. His amber eyes are sharp and dry as cracked honey, but his left hand is perpetually stained with indigo ink from the ledgers he keeps for his commander. He rides with a forward-tilted posture, as if always listening for a distant charge, yet he wears a neat silk neck-wrap embroidered with delicate moonflowers that seems far too elegant for a hard-bitten scout.

Height6 ft 1 in
BuildLean, whipcord-thin, and wiry, built for long rides and sudden bursts of speed rather than brute force
EyesAmber with a faint gold rim around each pupil
HairBlack with sun-bleached strands at the temples
SkinWarm copper-brown, sun-weathered at the cheeks and nose

Measured and low, with a dry desert cadence, brief formal phrases on duty, and rare flashes of lyrical speech when he talks about weather, horses, or the living map of the dunes..”

Distinguishing Features

A crescent scar across the bridge of his nose from a sandstorm ambush

A tiny silver bell sewn into his left cuff that never rings unless he is mounted

Ink-stained fingers from keeping meticulous route notes

A contradictory silk neck-wrap embroidered with flowers, worn under armor like a private defiance

Voice

Cool, precise, and quietly sardonic, like a man who has learned to keep his grief in a sealed cup until it can be poured safely into the sand.

Clothing

A sand-colored riding coat reinforced with light leather at the shoulders, a woven headscarf wrapped for sun and dust, bracers etched with caravan marks, loose trousers tucked into riding boots, and a narrow sash that holds a map tube, whetstone, and spare bowstring

Body Language

Still in the saddle, he is coiled and alert, knees loose, shoulders relaxed, eyes constantly scanning. On foot, he stands with one hand near his belt and the other half raised as if he expects to mount again at any second.
