Appearance
Mara is a lean, weathered human woman who looks as if the wind itself has spent years trying to sand her down and failed. Her skin is sun-browned and faintly freckled, with the rough texture of someone who lives outdoors through every season. She moves with a careful, almost reedy lightness, but there is a surprising stillness to her hands, like a surgeon or a card sharp. Her left sleeve is stitched with old scorch marks, yet she keeps it neatly mended with bright yellow thread, an odd touch of cheer against her grave, dust-laden presence. When she stands in the road, she seems to listen to the plain more than she listens to people.
“Measured and plainspoken, with occasional dry rural sayings and a habit of pausing to think before the important word lands..”
