Miriam 'Ma' Baker
Ranger
Miriam 'Ma' Baker
Species
Hobgoblin
Appearance
Miriam Baker is a powerfully built hobgoblin with grey-green skin stretched over dense muscle and a body that looks forged more than born. Her small tusks curve just enough to catch on her lower lip when she grins, giving her smile a wolfish, almost affectionate menace. One eye is a cruel serpent-yellow, bright and watchful, while the other is violet and ringed with old scar tissue that puckers the flesh around it, as if she once stared too long into fire or claw. Her green pixie-cut hair is chopped close and usually bristling with dust, sweat, or battle ash. She moves with a tactician's economy, but there is a strange softness in the way she reaches for her wyvern, as if every harsh motion in her life ends in a careful touch. The contradiction is immediate and unforgettable: she wears a dirty vest and gargo pants like a road-battered outlaw, yet her wolf-fur and purple wyvern-scale armor is maintained with near-religious care, polished where it matters most. Her ears are pierced over and over with bone slivers and iron rings, and dog tags clink at her throat whenever she laughs or loads her weapon.
“Short, vivid sentences; tactical metaphors; low, dry humor; calls people by roles first and names second until trust is earned.”

Distinguishing Features
Heterochromic eyes, one serpent-yellow and one violet with heavy scarring around it
Multiple bone and ring piercings in both ears
Dog tags worn like a talisman rather than a military ornament
A custom repeating crossbow with a hand-carved stock
Purple wyvern-scale armor taken from the hide of her own mount's shed scales
A presence that feels both maternal and predatory
Voice
“Low, dry, and gravelly, with a surprisingly gentle edge when she says a child's name or speaks to her wyvern”
Clothing
Cured wolf fur layered over purple wyvern-scale cuirass, battered gargo pants, jackboots caked with road mud, a dirty vest with hidden pockets, bone-beaded ear piercings, and dog tags on a leather cord
Body Language
She stands with one hip cocked and one hand never far from a weapon, but her shoulders drop and her movements become almost tender when her wyvern is near. In conversation she leans forward as though sharing secrets, yet her eyes never stop measuring angles.
