Appearance
Lysa Notch moves like a person who has spent half her life in the woods and the other half behind a counter. She is medium in height with a lean, corded build and a long stride that barely seems to waste motion. Her skin is weathered from sun and rain, and her hands are marked by tiny cuts, ink stains, and old bowstring burns. A narrow scar runs from her left eyebrow into her hairline like a deliberate slash, while one ear is threaded with three brass hoops and a tiny bone charm shaped like an arrowhead. Her dark brown hair is braided tight on one side and shaved close on the other, yet she keeps a single silver ribbon woven into the braid as if it were a treasured keepsake from a noble court. She wears practical leather layers under a deep green shop apron, but the apron is embroidered with surprisingly delicate golden moths, a contradictory touch that makes her look both dangerous and kind.
“Low, precise, and dry, with the occasional old woodsman's proverb or market phrase. She rarely wastes words, but when she does she sounds like someone handing over a warning as a favor.”
