The Four-Bowl Seal

A circular chamber of wet stone smells of river mud and old incense, its walls banded with bronze ribs that catch torchlight like fish scales. In the center waits a four-bowl console, each bowl etched with a different symbol: a sun, a wave, a root, and a seedling. A brass plaque hangs above them, and every time the room grows silent, a low answering hum comes from the sealed door. Wrong touches make the bowls click cold and drip black water; correct ones make the bronze warm and the hum deepen toward a welcoming chord.
