The Door of the Three Attendants
The passage ends at a gigantic basalt door that rises beyond the reach of torchlight. Three vertical panels show a crouching wolf, a many-pointed star, and a veiled eye. Before it stands a waist-high plinth with three empty sockets, each shaped for a different object. The air tastes of ash and cold metal. Crimson candles burn without melting, while pale blue fire flickers in narrow grooves around the door. Whenever someone steps near the plinth, the wolf's stone teeth click, the ceiling lens throws a brief star-shaped glimmer across the floor, and the veiled eye exhales a whisper of dust.
