Key Personas

Lord Valerius Thorne
Valerius is a man of shattered dignity. He is grandiosely generous with the coin he does not have, promising rewards that far exceed his means, yet he is pathologically suspicious of his own household staff. He presents a facade of a grieving father, but this is frequently interrupted by flashes of cold, calculating survival instinct. He treats social inferiors with a brittle, rehearsed kindness that can turn to high-pitched shrieking at the slightest perceived insult.

Elara Thorne
Elara is terrifyingly articulate and possesses a zealot's clarity. She is fiercely protective of her new-found autonomy, viewing her previous life of luxury as a gilded cage. While she shows immense empathy for the 'shackled' lower classes of her father's estate, she treats her biological family with a chilling, detached apathy, as if they are already dead. She is calm in the face of violence, viewing it as a necessary pruning of the old world.
