Rillhorn are lean, long-limbed beast-folk with narrow waists, powerful calves, and a distinctive springing gait. Their faces combine humanlike expressions with the tapered muzzles, large mobile ears, and alert eyes of swift plains mammals. Most grow a pair of ridged horns or swept brow-spurs, though shape and size vary widely. Their coats range from sandy cream and russet to charcoal, dun, brindle, and nearly white, often with darker shoulders or pale throat markings. Fine fur covers the body, while the hands, feet, and face may be nearly bare. Rillhorn dress in layered wraps, light armor, weatherproof cloaks, and belts decorated with route tokens, feathers, shells, or painted wood.

Rillhorn culture is organized around herds, route-families, and circles of obligation rather than rigid nations. A herd may include blood relatives, adopted members, skilled outsiders, and even trusted animals. Decisions are often made through long evening discussions in which every person may speak, followed by a period of deliberate silence. Their most respected virtues are reliability, awareness, generosity, and the ability to recognize when a familiar path has become dangerous. Rillhorn craftspeople excel at portable goods, weatherproof textiles, horn carving, leatherwork, bowmaking, herbal medicine, and memorized oral history. Hospitality is sacred, though guests are expected to help with camp duties.

Rillhorn religion centers on the Turning Sky, the Ground Beneath, and the Breath Between, three interwoven forces understood as change, endurance, and connection. Most sacred observances occur at dawn, before a migration, or after a death, when the herd gathers to speak the person's name and recount a deed worth carrying forward. Rillhorn settlements are designed to move. Their largest homes are circular felt lodges, hide tents, and collapsible reed shelters arranged around shared fire pits. Permanent communities use low stone windbreaks, sunken storehouses, and broad communal halls with roofs built to be dismantled and carried. They favor landmarks over streets, marking important sites with painted stones, bone chimes, and braided grass cairns.

Rillhorn are usually welcoming to travelers who respect local customs and leave grazing grounds, water, and trails in good condition. They often form strong trade relationships with settled peoples, exchanging wool, leather, medicinal grasses, weather knowledge, and trained pack animals. They are wary of empires that fence the plains or claim exclusive rights to rivers.
