The Broken Keel
The tavern was built from the remains of a watchhouse that collapsed during a winter storm nearly sixty years ago. Its first owner, a retired deckhand named Branna Saltwake, rebuilt the ground floor around the old foundation and opened a place where dockworkers could eat without being cheated by ship captains. Over the decades, the pub became a neutral meeting place for crews, merchants, ferrymen, and local officials. The current keeper inherited it after Branna vanished during a routine crossing that never reached the opposite shore.
