The Last Warm Place
Before the Day of Mourning, the inn was called the Lantern Rest and served couriers, soldiers, and merchants traveling between Cyre's inland towns. On 20 Olarune 994 YK, the Day of Mourning transformed the surrounding country into the Mournland. The building survived because it stood atop an old pre-Galifar foundation reinforced with unusually dense stone. Its former owners vanished, leaving behind half-finished meals, ledgers filled with impossible dates, and a child-sized handprint fused into the bar. The current keeper, Veyra, found the inn months later and turned it into a refuge for scavengers, refugees, and adventurers. She renamed it the Last Warm Place, though most patrons simply call it the Gray Hearth.
