Share, Export and Organise Workshop Entities
Share and export public-safe Workshop entities, restore privacy and hand organisation on to World Codex.
Finish production by checking visibility, sharing and retained files as separate outcomes. This lesson uses Captain Ilyra Venn from the public NPC generator and stops at the later World Codex handoff.
Choose the sharing surface
1. Review entity and image visibility
Open the exact owner route and verify the entity and its associated image independently. A Public entity with a Private image, or the reverse, is not a complete sharing decision. The retained NPC started and finished Private.

Visibility, Share Card and export controls have different outcomes.

The narrow layout keeps the final privacy check visible.
2. Use the supported Share Card or URL
A Workshop Share Card is mounted for most shared registry types, but not for Magic Item, Poetry or World in the reviewed contract. Poetry exposes URL copy instead. A copied URL is only useful to another viewer when visibility permits it. Do not assume one sharing control exists for every generator.
Retain and review exports
3. Choose a supported format and inspect the file
Export formats differ by entity. The retained NPC used JSON. Record the delivery method, format, extension, MIME type, byte count and checksum, then confirm the file opened and contains the correct entity name. Building's retained boundary used mounted JSON copy preserved as a file, while Poetry retained its canonical URL instead of a generic entity export.

The screenshot shows the mounted control and final Private state. The retained receipt proves the JSON file checks.
4. Verify the final private state
The retained public test moved Captain Ilyra Venn through Private, Public, logged-out visible and back to Private. It used two visibility mutations, kept the image Private and ended with both the public endpoint and the logged-out page returning not found. A stale cached page was recorded separately rather than treated as authoritative state.
Hand the result to World Codex later
After visibility and export checks pass, the private entity, relationships and retained files in Gallery are ready for later organisation in World Codex. This milestone stops at that handoff. It does not teach World Codex collections, sub-collections, grafting or hierarchy, which belong to the later curriculum.
Checkpoint
Check your result
- Entity and image visibility are reviewed separately before any Share Card or URL is used.
- The selected sharing surface is actually supported by that generator type.
- The retained export matches its format, MIME type, byte count and checksum, and the file is opened with the correct entity name.
- The canonical entity and image finish Private, and organisation stops at the World Codex handoff.
If something looks wrong
Troubleshooting
- Symptom
- A Share Card is missing.
- Likely cause
- Magic Item, Poetry and World do not mount the Workshop Share Card in the reviewed contract.
- Next safe action
- Use only the type's supported URL or export surface and keep visibility explicit.
- Symptom
- The download control ran but no trustworthy file exists.
- Likely cause
- A mounted control is not openability or checksum proof.
- Next safe action
- Check the delivery boundary, retain the actual output and verify its bytes, checksum and entity name.
- Symptom
- A logged-out page appears after restoring Private.
- Likely cause
- A cached page can lag authoritative visibility.
- Next safe action
- Verify the public endpoint and a fresh logged-out route, retain the stale observation separately, and do not expose private material.
