Blackstone Reach
Blackstone Reach is a formidable bastion carved from a shelf of obsidian and grey granite. Its three concentric walls descend toward the sea like the steps of a giant, culminating in a heavily fortified harbour. Currently, the landscape beyond the landward gate is a scarred wasteland of trenches and siege engines, while the seaward side is blocked by a fleet of hostile black-sailed dromonds.

Blackstone Reach
The air is a suffocating mix of salt spray and the acrid stench of burning pitch. A constant, low-frequency vibration hums through the stone from the impact of trebuchet stones, punctuated by the rhythmic shouts of officers and the distant, haunting horn calls of the besieging army.

History
Siege Defense Equipment
The castle is equipped with six Heavy Ballistae (3d10 piercing), two 'Wave-Cutter' Trebuchets (5d10 bludgeoning), and four cauldrons of Alchemical Vitriol which deal 4d6 acid damage to anyone attempting to scale the walls. As captains, the players have the authority to direct these weapons' fire during a round of combat.
Garrison Morale and Supplies
The castle currently houses 400 soldiers and 200 civilians. Supplies are sufficient for 21 days. If morale (tracked on a scale of 1 to 20) drops below 5, soldiers may begin to desert or sabotage the gates. Player actions, such as successful sorties or rousing speeches, can restore lost morale.
The Under-Harbor
Hidden beneath the main docks is a secret submersible bay. It contains 'The Gilded Nautilus', a small, magic-propelled diving vessel used for sabotage missions against the enemy fleet's hulls or for delivering high-priority messages past the blockade.

A soot-stained dwarf who carries a collection of specialized wrenches and scrolls. He is responsible for maintaining the castle's heavy ballistae and repairing wall sections mid-combat.
A tall, scarred veteran who knows the wind speeds of the Reach's cliffs by heart. He acts as the primary liaison between the players and the rank-and-file soldiers.
A priestess of the hearth who has converted the grand ballroom into a triage ward. She is overworked but possesses a dry, dark sense of humor that keeps morale afloat.
Rumors & Plot Hooks
- 1.A shipment of 'Dragon Fire' oil was lost in the lower cellars and might be leaking near the grain stores.
- 2.One of the junior lieutenants was seen signaling the enemy fleet from the West Tower at midnight.
- 3.The enemy is not trying to break the walls; they are digging a tunnel from the sea-caves below the cliffside.
Classified Entry
The castle's foundation is anchored to the fossilized ribs of a gargantuan sea behemoth. If the correct ritual is performed in the central crypt, the stone itself can be made to grow or repair its own cracks for a short duration, though it requires a significant sacrifice of magical energy.
