The Iron Sink
Once a formidable fortress designed to house the realm's most dangerous sorcerers, The Iron Sink now tilts precariously into the Black Mire. The granite walls are slick with oily moss, and the massive iron-bound doors hang from their hinges like broken limbs. Cold, brackish water fills the lower hallways, echoing with the sound of constant dripping and the faint, rhythmic hum of failing magical wards.

The Iron Sink
Oppressive, damp, and thick with the smell of ozone and stagnant salt water.

History
Security Measures
The prison features unstable antimagic fields that fluctuate between zero and one hundred percent effectiveness every few minutes. Large sections of the floor are rigged with Glyphs of Warding that have become volatile due to moisture, often detonating with force damage instead of their original programmed effects. Two rusted Iron Golems still patrol the perimeter, though their logic processors are damaged, leading them to view all movement as an attempted breakout.
Notable Prisoners
The lower tiers once held 'The Red Duchess', a pyromancer whose cell was lined with sheets of pure ice that have since melted, leaving her fate unknown. Another cell was designed for 'Vax of the Thousand Blades', a master assassin whose cell was found empty but contains a series of cryptic marks carved into the stone that seem to be a map of the current marshland's ley lines.
The Sunken Records
The Warden's office contains a lead-lined safe holding the 'Book of the Unforgiven'. This ledger contains the true names and crimes of every individual ever held here, including several high-ranking political figures currently serving in the capital who were supposedly dead.
Denizens
A weary, bureaucratic man who treats the ruins as a stain on his professional record.
The spirit of a former captain of the guard who refuses to leave his post and attacks anyone not wearing an official badge.
A deranged and remarkably resilient wizard who survived the catastrophe by eating cave moss and remains hidden in the ventilation ducts.
Rumors & Plot Hooks
- 1.A cache of confiscated magic items remains locked in the warden's vault beneath the waterline.
- 2.The earthquake was actually a botched ritual performed by a prisoner trying to fold space.
- 3.Some of the cells are now occupied by creatures that crawled in from the marsh rather than those kept within.
Classified Entry
The structural instability is being caused by a rift to the Shadowfell that opened in the deepest cell, which is slowly pulling the entire building into another plane.
