The Lantern of Ashes

An ancient lantern forged from soot-stained iron and shards of cracked obsidian. Inside, no wick or oil exists; instead, a pulsating, white-hot spark of a primordial phoenix, known as the Firelight, beats like a trapped heart. The lantern constanty leaks fine grey ash that defies gravity, swirling upward in ghostly patterns. When gripped, the metal is blisteringly hot but does not burn the attuned wielder, though it smells of cedar, sulfur, and parched earth.
