Sanguis Exanimis

A massive blade of rippled, dark-tempered steel that seems to absorb light. The crossguard is crafted from blackened silver in the shape of outspread skeletal bat wings, and a large, cabochon-cut ruby set in the pommel pulses with a slow, rhythmic crimson glow. The blade remains unnaturally warm to the touch and smells faintly of metallic iron and old velvet.
