Bloodstone Staff

A twisted staff of petrified heartwood from a Gulthias tree, capped with a fist-sized bloodstone that rhythmically pulses with a low crimson light. Thick, blackened iron bands wrap the wood like constricting snakes, and thin veins of literal blood seep slowly from the gem, trickling down the grooves of the staff without ever falling to the ground. It remains unnervingly warm to the touch, and the faint sound of a heartbeat can be heard when holding it to one's ear.
