False Appearance. While the Mourner remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a cluster of swamp vegetation and driftwood.
Mimicry. The Mourner can mimic any sounds it has heard, including voices. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a successful Wisdom (Insight) check.
Stagnant Aura. The area in a 10-foot radius around the Mourner is difficult terrain for any creature without a swim speed, as the ground liquefies into a thick, clutching sludge.
Multiattack. The Mourner makes two Slam attacks and uses its Grasping Throat.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 13 () bludgeoning damage plus 7 () necrotic damage.

Wail of the Drowned (Recharge 5-6). The Mourner releases a cacophony of screaming voices. Each creature within 30 feet of the Mourner that can hear it must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 36 () psychic damage and is Frightened until the end of its next turn. On a success, the creature takes half damage and isn't frightened.
Bubbling Escape. When the Mourner takes fire damage, it can immediately move up to half its swim speed without provoking opportunity attacks by dissolving into bubbles and reforming elsewhere.
