Hunters tell stories that shadowstalker eyes are the last thing many travelers see before waking up far from their trail. Old woodcutters leave offerings of salt and meat at tree stumps to placate or distract them. Some druids whisper that shadowstalkers are the forest's response to encroaching lanternlight and tracks—agents of balance rather than mere beasts.

Shadowmeld. While in dim light or darkness the shadowstalker can take the Hide action as a bonus action. It has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in forests at night.
Keen Smell. The shadowstalker has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Ambush Predator. If the shadowstalker surprises a creature and hits it with its first attack, that attack deals an extra 7 () necrotic damage as the darkness bites into flesh.
Feral Resilience. When the shadowstalker is reduced to half its hit points or fewer, all its attacks deal extra damage on a hit while it remains in dim light or darkness.
Multiattack. The shadowstalker makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 () piercing damage. If the shadowstalker moved at least 20 feet straight toward the target immediately before hitting with this attack, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone and restrained by the shadowstalker as huge barbed tendrils erupt and lash the target. The restrained creature can use an action to make a Strength check, freeing itself on a success.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 () slashing damage.
Rend. The shadowstalker lunges at a prone creature within 5 feet. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit. On a hit the attack deals double damage and the target is grappled (escape ).
Snap Reaction. When a creature the shadowstalker can see enters a space adjacent to it, the shadowstalker can make one claw attack against that creature, but only if it is hidden or in dim light.
