Appearance
Seln looks like a tired village elder who has accidentally wandered into history. His skin is weathered and fine-lined, with tiny silver scars crossing his knuckles like writing. He moves slowly until a spirit speaks, then turns with startling, birdlike speed. His left eye is clouded pearl, while his right eye remains sharp and dark. He carries himself with the wary balance of someone standing on a boat, even on solid ground. The unexpected impression is that he is both frail and difficult to move, as if the earth quietly refuses to let him fall.
“Low, dry, and intimate. Seln speaks as though everyone nearby is asleep except him.”

Distinguishing Features
A clouded left eye that reflects doorways which are not physically present.
Seven red cords sewn into his coat, none of them matching.
A clay bowl with a permanent thumbprint in its rim, warm even in winter.
A small child's mitten worn as a charm at his throat.
His shadow occasionally faces the wrong direction.
Voice
“A gravelly baritone softened by age, with a faint Hungarian-Persian cadence in the rhythm of his vowels.”
Clothing
A patched charcoal robe beneath a sleeveless coat of layered felt. The coat is sewn with seven mismatched red cords, each representing a planar boundary he has crossed. He wears soft leather boots, a copper belt crowded with charms, and one child-sized mitten tucked into his collar.
Body Language
Seln keeps one hand near his clay bowl and tilts his head toward empty corners as though listening to a difficult companion. When lying, he becomes perfectly still. When telling the truth, his fingers tremble.
