Appearance
Elara is a narrow-shouldered young woman whose movements are careful, almost rehearsed, as though she is constantly compensating for a balance she cannot explain. Her left sleeve is pinned neatly beneath her shoulder, empty from the cuff to the collar. She insists she was born with both arms, and she becomes genuinely confused when people ask which one is missing. Her clothing smells faintly of rain, lamp oil, and crushed violets. Fine silver lines occasionally appear beneath the skin of her empty shoulder, branching like frost on glass before fading. She has an unexpectedly severe presence for someone who looks so young, but when she laughs, the sound is bright, childish, and entirely at odds with her haunted expression.
“Her voice is clear, quick, and slightly breathless, with the clipped precision of a student answering an oral examination. When discussing enchantment, she becomes musical and animated.”

Distinguishing Features
One sleeve is pinned empty, though Elara insists she was born with both arms.
Silver lines briefly glow beneath the skin of her left shoulder.
Her notebooks contain diagrams in handwriting that resembles hers but uses unfamiliar letterforms.
A tiny brass key is embedded beneath the nail of her right index finger.
Her shadow occasionally shows two arms when she stands beneath magical light.
Voice
“A clear contralto with a scholarly cadence, usually precise and brisk, but softened by an unexpected warmth when she speaks to children or damaged objects.”
Clothing
A storm-gray student coat with brass thread sewn into the cuffs, a high-collared cream blouse, a layered blue skirt over practical leggings, scuffed ankle boots, a leather notebook harness, and a single empty sleeve pinned with a tarnished silver brooch shaped like an open eye
Body Language
Elara keeps her empty sleeve close to her body and often turns her torso slightly as if making room for someone standing beside her. When relaxed, she taps two fingers against her wrist in a steady rhythm. When frightened, she reaches toward her missing hand with her remaining hand and freezes before touching the empty air.
