Appearance
Elaran is a broad-shouldered dwarf whose movements are precise rather than heavy, as if every step has been measured against the floor plan of a fortress. His beard is absent, his chin clean-shaven, and his copper spectacles rest on a nose flattened by old combat injuries. His skin is rough as unfinished granite, with fine pale scars crossing his knuckles and left temple. He carries himself like a magistrate until battle begins, when he becomes startlingly quick, ducking and pivoting with the compact grace of a woodland animal. The unexpected contradiction is his hands: scarred, calloused, and built for splitting shields, yet delicate enough to repair a broken violin string without tools.

His formal cloak bears the silver axe-and-leaf emblem of the Free Axemen, while his work gloves are patched with red thread by his late sister.
Body Language
Elaran keeps his shoulders square and his feet planted wide, but one thumb constantly rubs the oldest name carved into his axe handle. When angry, he removes his spectacles and polishes them with excessive care. When genuinely amused, he leans forward like a conspirator and hides his smile behind one hand.
