Reeve Tara Cinder
Species

Appearance
Tara Cinder is a compact human woman with the dense, weathered posture of someone who has spent decades leaning into bad weather. Her movements are economical and abrupt, like a knife being folded shut. Silver spectacles perch low on her nose, their lenses often filmed with rain or woodsmoke, and her severe green cloak hangs from her shoulders like a strip of forest shadow. Mud is always dried along the same left hem, even after she changes clothes or travels over clean roads. Her hands are small, square, and permanently roughened by ink, cold water, and fence repairs. She leaves behind an impression of stern competence, yet when she laughs, which is rare, her whole face becomes unexpectedly youthful and warm.
“Clipped, exact, and low-volume, with the careful rhythm of someone reading a legal statement aloud. Her voice softens around children and becomes almost musical when she speaks about rivers.”

Distinguishing Features
Silver spectacles with one lens faintly cracked but never replaced
A permanent strip of dried mud along the left hem of her cloak
A pale crescent scar beneath her chin from the Blackwater Flood
A brass ferry token sewn inside her collar
An unexpectedly warm, almost girlish laugh
Voice
“A dry contralto with a faint river-country accent, usually controlled to the point of sounding like distant thunder behind a wall.”
Clothing
A severe bottle-green wool cloak with one mud-stained hem, a charcoal dress reinforced at the elbows, a leather belt carrying keys and a whistle, thick stockings, practical ankle boots, and silver spectacles fitted with a tiny chain.
Body Language
Tara stands with both feet planted wide, one thumb hooked beneath her belt, and her head tilted slightly forward as though listening for a lie beneath every sentence. When angered, she cleans her spectacles. When genuinely moved, she looks down at the mud on her cloak.
