Rector Garin Widdershins
Species
Human
Appearance
Rector Garin Widdershins is a narrow, long-limbed human with the posture of a man perpetually listening to a distant clock. His movements are economical until magic is involved, when his hands begin tracing small circles in the air as though unwinding invisible thread. His skin is weathered bronze, textured by years spent beneath the harsh sun of Dawnvale, while his robes smell faintly of chalk dust, lamp oil, and rain on hot stone. He leaves an impression of brittle severity, yet his smile is unexpectedly warm and boyish when he sees someone mastering a difficult spell. The contradiction unsettles people: his left hand trembles constantly, but his spellwork is unnervingly precise.
“Measured and articulate, with a dry rasp softened by careful courtesy. Garin pronounces every student's name correctly and pauses before important words as though setting them inside a ward.”

Distinguishing Features
A constant tremor in his left hand that vanishes when he casts a spell
A thin burn scar running from his left ear to the corner of his mouth
A backward-pointing brass raven on his cane
Ink-stained fingertips that never fully wash clean
A habit of casting faint blue sparks whenever he becomes genuinely amused
Voice
“A low, dry baritone with a faint rasp, like a quill dragged across coarse parchment. When frightened, he becomes unnaturally quiet. When furious, his voice becomes gentle enough to make the room feel colder.”
Clothing
A charcoal rector's coat reinforced with blue thread, a high-collared cream shirt, black gloves with the fingertips cut away, polished brown boots, and a copper faculty medallion scarred by old fire. His cane is dark ashwood capped with a brass raven whose beak points backward.
Body Language
Garin leans slightly to the right to compensate for his trembling hand. He taps his cane in prime numbers, keeps his shoulders squared before nobles, and lowers his head when speaking to frightened apprentices. In danger, his tremor stops completely.
