Appearance
Master Veyra Quill is a compact, sharp-featured woman whose movements are economical and precise, as though every gesture has been measured with calipers. Her hands are permanently stained with silver filings and blue-black oil, while faint burn marks stipple her forearms like freckles. A narrow scar runs from the corner of her mouth to her left ear, giving her resting expression the look of a private smirk. Her hair is braided tightly around a copper gear clasp, but several wild wisps escape and spark with harmless static when she is excited. She walks with a slight limp from an old workshop accident, yet can spring across a counter with startling speed. The unexpected contradiction is her delicate, almost birdlike appearance paired with a voice and presence that can dominate a crowded forge.
“Her voice is low, clipped, and resonant, with the steady cadence of a person explaining a process that has already gone wrong three times. She speaks faster when excited and slows to an almost soothing precision when issuing threats.”

Distinguishing Features
A silver gear-shaped scar over her left kneecap.
A copper tooth visible when she smiles.
A mechanical left knee that clicks softly with every third step.
A tiny blue flame burning inside a glass vial at her throat, said to be Odran's last workshop flame.
Her shadow sometimes moves a fraction of a second after she does.
Voice
“A low contralto with a faint rasp, like a file drawn across brass. Her laughter is sudden, bright, and surprisingly youthful.”
Clothing
A charcoal work coat reinforced with thin plates of lacquered steel, a deep green waistcoat lined with hidden pockets, fitted trousers, brass knee braces, and heavy boots with magnetized soles. Her apron is stitched with dozens of tiny tool loops and bears the faded crest of Odran Vale.
Body Language
Veyra rarely stands still. Her fingers count invisible gears, her head tilts toward every unfamiliar sound, and she taps her metal-capped cane three times before making an important decision. When angry, she becomes unnervingly motionless. When delighted, she leans forward like a child watching a magic trick.
