Vaelith Noctren
Fighter
Vaelith Noctren
Species
Half-Elf
Appearance
Vaelith looks like a hymn written in soot and silver. Her half-elf features are sharp and elegant, but they carry a constant look of sleepless sorrow, as if she has just stepped out of a funeral procession and resents the weather for continuing. Her pale clothes are tailored in severe gothic layers, all black velvet, charcoal lace, and tarnished clasps, yet she wears a single bright ribbon on one wrist because one of her siblings tied it there and she has never found the heart to remove it. She moves with a careful, trained stillness until the moment she fights, when she becomes a blur of disciplined angles and sudden violence. The contradiction people remember most is that she keeps a tiny carved toy fox tucked into her belt beside her deadly weapon.
“Low, precise, and a little weary, as if every sentence has to pass through a storm before it reaches the world. Her words sharpen when she is angry, soften when she is speaking to children, and go almost unbearably gentle when she is trying not to cry.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin silver scar across her left cheek
A black ribbon on her wrist tied by a younger sibling
A custom morning star with an inscribed handle and dark iron head
Permanent shadow-smudged makeup that she never fully removes
An incongruously gentle smile that appears only around children
Voice
“Velvet-flat and faintly ironic, with a tired nobility that cracks into tenderness when she thinks no one is listening.”
Clothing
A fitted black traveler’s coat over a high-collared charcoal tunic, dark leather bracers, a skirt split for movement over fitted trousers, and scuffed boots repaired many times. Her clothes are elegant only at a distance, revealing patched seams, old stains, and hidden pockets on closer inspection.
Body Language
Her shoulders are usually drawn inward as though she expects the world to strike first, but the posture changes instantly into balanced combat readiness when threatened. She folds her hands behind her back when irritated and taps two fingers against her wrist when counting silently. In rare moments of softness, she unconsciously tucks stray hair behind the ear of the nearest child, then looks embarrassed for having done it.
