Appearance
Jilly Brightcask is a broad-shouldered human woman with the weathered sturdiness of someone who has carried full kegs up narrow stairs for most of her life. She moves with a surprising quietness, gliding between tables as though the crowded taproom were a private dance floor. Her hands are scarred, quick, and permanently fragrant with oak, citrus peel, and smoke. A pale burn mark curls from her left wrist to her elbow in the shape of branching vines. She smiles easily, but her eyes remain watchful, measuring exits, strangers, and the level of every drink in the room. The unexpected contradiction is her hair, which is carefully braided with tiny silver bells despite her otherwise practical, work-worn appearance. They never seem to ring unless Jilly wants them to.
“Her voice is low, bright, and textured by years of calling across crowded rooms. She speaks quickly when excited, slowly when suspicious, and with almost ceremonial calm when delivering a threat.”

Distinguishing Features
A branching pale burn scar along the left forearm.
Three silver bells braided into her dark hair.
A chipped front tooth capped with a tiny piece of copper.
A tattoo of a barrel hoop around her right wrist, interrupted by a single black mark.
A habit of carrying a serving tray like a shield.
Voice
“Warm contralto with a smoky edge, capable of filling a room without sounding like a shout”
Clothing
A russet wool vest over a cream linen shirt, a dark green work skirt divided for easy movement, sturdy lace-up boots, a leather apron marked with old burn scars, and a ring of brass keys worn at her belt. Her silver-bell hair ornaments are the only decorative part of her outfit.
Body Language
Jilly leans forward when someone is lying, tilts her head when someone is frightened, and rests two fingers on the nearest solid surface whenever she hears unexpected news. In danger, her posture becomes almost serene, with her shoulders lowered and her hands loose at her sides.
