Zaydan al-Rih al-Mazruq
Sorcerer
Zaydan al-Rih al-Mazruq
Species
Tiefling
Appearance
Zaydan is a narrow-shouldered young tiefling with a restless, almost windblown presence, as though the air around him never quite settles. His skin is deep copper brown with faint, branching marks along his forearms that resemble dried riverbeds. Two swept-back black horns emerge from his temples, their ridges polished with blue pigment and oil. His tail is long and expressive, usually wrapped around one ankle when he is thinking. He moves too quickly for his own robes, often stepping on their hems or turning sharply enough to send brass charms clattering. The unexpected contradiction is his delicate, almost scholarly hands, each finger stained with ink and henna despite the dangerous heat that constantly gathers around his palms.
“His Common is fluent but ornamented with Qadreni proverbs, elaborate comparisons, and sudden technical jargon. He speaks quickly when excited and drops to a ceremonial whisper when attempting to sound authoritative.”

Distinguishing Features
Blue geometric pigment painted into the ridges of his horns
A brass ring on his tail engraved with the name of his dead older sister
Elemental marks on his arms that warm, frost, or tremble according to his mood
One permanently singed eyebrow from an early experiment
A small pouch of colored sand that he treats as laboratory equipment and emotional support
Voice
“A bright, quick tenor with a smoky undertone, like a song carried through a brass pipe. When angry, his voice becomes unnaturally resonant and nearby flames bend toward him.”
Clothing
A layered indigo and saffron robe cut short for travel, a sleeveless sand-colored vest, soft red trousers, wrapped leather sandals, and a broad Qadreni sash filled with chalk, copper wire, glass vials, and folded notes. He wears a weather-stained scholar's mantle despite the heat, because he believes it makes him look more authoritative.
Body Language
Zaydan leans toward people when they speak, but his hands are always moving. His fingers trace invisible symbols, his tail coils around his leg when he lies, and small sparks appear between his knuckles when he feels embarrassed. In combat, he spreads his feet wide like a dancer preparing for a storm and keeps glancing at the ground as if expecting it to betray him.
