Fennelwick Bristlewhistle
Bard
Fennelwick Bristlewhistle
Species
Lightfoot Halfling
Appearance
Fennelwick Bristlewhistle is a compact lightfoot halfling with a round, weathered face and the deceptively soft hands of someone who has spent decades scrubbing other people's disasters away. His fur is cinnamon-brown with a pale streak running from his brow to his chin, as though someone dragged a wet paintbrush down his face. He walks with a gentle side-to-side sway, almost like a boat crossing calm water, yet he can become startlingly still when listening. His smile is warm, but his eyes are the cold green of bottle glass found in an alley. He always smells faintly of lavender soap, chimney ash, and rain. The unexpected contradiction is his immaculate appearance: despite working as a janitor, not a single cuff or button is ever visibly stained.
“His voice is mellow, quick, and musical, with a soft rasp like a broom against old floorboards. He speaks in complete, courteous sentences even while insulting someone.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale fur stripe crosses his face from forehead to chin
His left thumb is missing the upper joint, lost while disarming a theatre trap
His mop handle is carved with hundreds of tiny musical notes
He wears a silver thimble on a cord around his neck
His reflection sometimes appears to be holding a violin instead of a mop
Voice
“A warm tenor with a polished stage cadence, capable of dropping into a whisper that seems to come from the walls. His laugh is bright and genuine, but it ends abruptly, as though someone has closed a door.”
Clothing
A dark teal janitor's coat with brass toggles, clean cream-colored shirt sleeves, reinforced trousers, and polished ankle boots. His waist belt carries soap cakes, chalk, keys, thread, and three folded handkerchiefs. A faded burgundy sash identifies him as a former theatre performer. His mop is wrapped in black silk when not in use.
Body Language
He keeps one hand loosely resting on his mop handle and tilts his head as if judging the acoustics of every room. When angry, he stops blinking. When frightened, he becomes obsessively precise, aligning cups, chairs, and loose floorboards into perfect order.
