Lirael is a slender moon elf with the poised stillness of a deer listening beneath fresh snow. Her skin has a muted silver-brown tone, textured with faint crescent-shaped birthmarks along her collarbone and wrists. Her long hair is deep blue-black, threaded with living strands of pale moss that curl toward moonlight. One side of her face is soft and youthful, while the other bears a thin barklike scar from temple to jaw. She moves with careful, floating steps, yet her hands are rough, stained, and permanently nicked from years of tending wounded trees. The unexpected contradiction is her smile, which is warm, almost mischievous, despite the solemn reputation of a sacred grove warden.
