Bromm Vell
Fighter
Bromm Vell
Species
Hill Dwarf
Appearance
Bromm Vell is a broad-shouldered dwarf with the slow, river-trained balance of a man who has spent years walking wet stone and shifting decks. His beard is iron-gray at the roots and copper at the ends, braided with tiny willow charms, tarnished coins, and one strip of blue sailcloth from a ship that sank twenty years ago. His left eye is pale and clouded, as if it still holds a winter sky, while the right is sharp and amber-bright. He wears a sleeveless mail shirt under a lacquered river-warden coat, but the coat is sewn with fine silk at the cuffs in a surprisingly elegant, almost foppish way. He smells faintly of old rain, lamp oil, and crushed mint. When he moves, he does so with deliberate economy, as if every step has already been weighed on a ledger.
“Low and deliberate, with a harbor-dock accent and the habit of ending warnings as if they are favors..”

Distinguishing Features
A thin white scar runs from his jaw to beneath his beard, shaped like a fishhook.
His left ear is partially missing, apparently bitten off in a tavern brawl.
He carries a rivet of polished bronze in his pocket that he rubs when troubled.
One sleeve is lined with bright blue silk, a hidden memorial to his lost sister.
Voice
“Gravelly, steady, and unexpectedly warm when speaking to the vulnerable; every sentence sounds measured against the current before it is released.”
Clothing
A practical river-warden coat over chain mail, weatherproof leather boots with high soles, fingerless gloves, a brass clasp shaped like a heron, and a formal sash worn only when he visits city offices he despises
Body Language
Still and compact at rest, but in motion he leans slightly forward like a boat cutting current. He speaks with his hands close to his body, only opening them when making a promise or issuing an order. When angry, he goes very quiet and begins tapping two knuckles against his shield rim.
