Captain Cerys Lark
Commander
Captain Cerys Lark
Species
Human
Appearance
Captain Cerys Lark is a tall human woman with a weather-beaten face, a broken nose set slightly crooked, and shoulders hardened by years of hauling ropes, bodies, and frightened travelers up the Veiled Stair. Her skin has the dry, wind-polished texture of old parchment, marked by pale scars from falling masonry and one thin silver line beneath her left eye. Her dark brown hair is cut close on one side and braided tightly on the other, with bits of blue stair-thread woven through it. She moves with careful economy, placing each boot as though the floor might suddenly become a wall. The unexpected contradiction is her hands: broad, scarred, and callused, yet delicate enough to repair a clockwork music box she keeps hidden in her quarters. She leaves behind the impression of a locked door that has learned to speak.
“Low, clipped, and precise, with the dry cadence of someone accustomed to shouting over machinery. She rarely raises her voice because she knows exactly how to make silence feel like an order.”

Voice
“A low contralto roughened by cold air, smoke, and years of shouting warnings across metal bridges. When speaking to children, it becomes unexpectedly soft and musical.”
Clothing
Weathered brown leather armor reinforced with brass plates, a storm-gray cloak pinned with a cracked stair insignia, reinforced trousers, high climbing boots, fingerless gloves, and a ring of mismatched iron, silver, bone, and glass keys.
Body Language
She angles her body toward doors, keeps one hand near her keyring, and tilts her head whenever someone lies. When angry, she becomes perfectly still. When afraid, she starts testing locks faster.
