The Weighing of the Spheres

Dust motes dance in the moonlight filtering through a cracked domed ceiling. At the center of the room stands a large bronze tripod supporting two iron scales that hum with a faint, low frequency. Five pedestals surround the scale, though only four hold glass orbs: one shimmering gold, one pale silver, one vibrant green, and one of absolute, light-consuming black. Behind the apparatus, a heavy stone door is carved with the image of a solar eclipse, its surface missing the central disk that would complete the image.
