The Threshold of the Good Shepherd
The chamber is a pristine vault of white marble, smelling faintly of frankincense and ozone. At the far end stands a massive gold and silver door, depicting a faceless shepherd holding a crook. The floor between you and the door consists of sixteen heavy, square stone tiles arranged in a four-by-four grid. Each tile is etched with deep grooves and vibrant mosaic glass, depicting either a confused lamb, a winding gravel path, or a thicket of obsidian briars. When you step near, the tiles hum with a low, judgmental resonance that vibrates in your chest.
