The Scales of Aethelgard
A circular chamber opens beneath a high vaulted ceiling that perfectly reflects an unmoving night sky. In the center, four bronze statues of celestial maidens stand around a massive, central stone scale. Each maiden holds a shallow obsidian basin out toward the center. The air is unnaturally cold and smells of ozone and ancient dust, while the faint sound of clicking gears echoes from beneath the heavy stone floor tiles whenever someone moves near the apparatus.
